The club's shot-making prowess is further improved by Cleveland's Zip Grooves technology, which creates 25 percent bigger grooves, each with pristine edges. This helps increase the shot "zip" and consistency, especially from poor lies. Cleveland also added a Traction shaft, which is engineered from tip to grip to improve feel. The tip section is slightly softer than on most clubs, improving feel and responsiveness. The company then increased the stiffness of the shaft in the mid and butt sections to assure optimal launch conditions and consistency on full shots. Finally, the club boasts a wider sole width near the heel than most wedges, along with a narrow sole width near the toe. As a result, the CG15 improves a golfer's bunker performance without sacrificing versatility. Available in a variety of lofts and bounces, the CG15 is an Editor's Choice Gold Medal Winner from Golf Digest's 2010 Hot List.
The CG15 Black Pearl wedge offers some of the most effective spin yet developed by Cleveland Golf. |

This review is from: Cleveland CG15 Black Pearl Wedge, Standard Bounce (Sports) I have both a 52 and a 56 degree version of this wedge and I am thrilled with both. Obviously, spin is subjective to many factors, including ball type and quality, swing, lie, contact etc. However, when comparing this to my old wedges, I have found that the amount of spin I get is substantially more than what I was accustomed to. They have a great feel and the finish is gorgeous at address. The laser etchings on the face of the club seem to have survived countless rounds already, despite some folks experiencing the opposite. Close inspection reveals that they are still there, albeit harder to see. The traditional grooves are still there and sharp. In fact, while trying to run my finger across one to inspect their longevity, I cut my finger similar to a paper cut. A mildly painful, but ironic testament to their staying power.
The lack of a five star review is simply because of the face losing it's finish. The gunmetal grey has turned somewhat lighter on the face...Read more 1 of 1 people found the following review helpful: This review is from: Cleveland CG15 Black Pearl Wedge, Standard Bounce (Sports) i was looking for a new lob wedge to replace one that i found in my grandfathers garage which was slowly deteriorating. i came across this wedge and put it on my birthday list. after the first swing i noticed a difference. the ball came off the face smoothly and with alot of spin. before i was only able to put a noticable amount of spin on the ball with a full swing, now i can put spin on the ball with my short shots too. the pearl finish has started to come off with only 3 rounds of golf on its record. the finnish is coming off in thin lines and it is some-what annoying. over all the wedge s really solid the wedge is worth the money and if the wearing of the finish bothers you, buy it in a different finish. 1 of 1 people found the following review helpful: By RalphDaly28 (Michigan, USA) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Cleveland CG15 Black Pearl Wedge, Standard Bounce (Sports) What more needs to be said than the fact that the USGA/PGA is outlawing these wedges because they are so good. I am just a duffer (low-mid 90s) and these wedges let me (occassionally) hit like a pro with backspin that stops the ball even on an average hit and lets me draw it back on a good hit. I like the black color which doesn't reflect the sunlight back into my eyes which happens to me with some polished wegdes. |
