This review is from: Titleist Scotty Cameron Studio Select Putter Newport 2
I was hesitant to buy the Scotty Cameron Newport 2 because the price was $300. I was used to paying around $120 or less. I have mostly used Ping Anser putters which are one reason that drew me to the Newport 2. It has a classic styling which I was accustomed to. I finally tried out the putter in the golf store and realized how much more consistently the ball was coming off the putter head. I could gauge my speed much better. The problem that I have with a lot of the "cheaper" putters is that they all seem to have an insert of some sort which if you mishit even slightly can cause you to hit the ball too long or too short. One interesting thing I noticed is most of the "expensive" putters like the Scotty Camerons, Rossa, and even high end Pings have no insert but are just simply high grade steel. I would highly recommend anyone to try out the putter and the cost shouldn't be an issue if you are willing to spend $400 on a driver. You use your putter way more on the golf course!
